Netanyahu objects to Palestinian statehood

Israel and the U.S. appear to be at odds over the future once the Gaza conflict is over. The Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says any Palestinian statehood that does not guarantee Israel’s security is off the table.

But Washington says there is no way to resolve Israel’s long-term security challenges without the establishment of a Palestinian state. Sarah Coates on the latest from Tel Aviv. #Israel #Gaza

00:00 Since October, nearly two million people, more than 85 percent of the population,
00:06 have been displaced across the Gaza Strip. Families are forced to move frequently,
00:13 searching for some safe place as the Israeli ground operation grows larger.
00:19 The city of Rafah, located in southern Gaza, has become a huge camp, where hundreds of tents have
00:27 been set up using wood and plastic sheets that do not protect against rain or the cold of winter.
00:35 In a worn-out tent made of fabric, Om Mohamed sits with her children after she left her home
00:43 in Jubalia in northern Gaza to attend in Rafah. Om Mohamed says that her children have been sick
00:51 due to the unclean environment, lack of clothes and blankets, and their exposure
00:57 to extreme conditions at night. "We can no longer do anything. I feel helpless.
01:04 After everyone ignored our pleas. We have no drinking water, food, or even electricity.
01:10 Two children died here in these tents due to the extreme cold. We cannot find milk for our children,
01:18 so we boil water with sugar to satisfy their hunger. Now we don't even have sugar."
01:23 The residents of the camps share the same struggle.
01:30 Ahmed Abu Jamal suffers daily to provide water for his family of seven.
01:36 Sometimes, he is forced to walk long distances.
01:40 "It's difficult for us to get water and food. As you know,
01:46 the war has displaced us from our home in Gaza to Rafah in the south. We face difficulty in
01:51 obtaining water. We try in every way to find water and fill it from anywhere.
01:56 Sometimes I walk more than two kilometers just to fill one liter of water."
02:00 There is no longer room for families in school shelters, so the displaced people are building
02:11 ramshackle tents on the sides of buildings, making sure to be as close as possible to UN flags
02:19 or the Egyptian border, in the hope they are protected from Israeli airstrikes.
02:24 No Harassment CGTN, Gaza.
