Oxen weighing more than 500 kilograms (1,100
pounds) each are lowered from a rooftop by crane
and dangle in the air over a narrow alleyway in
Karachi, Pakistan, Monday, August 4.
How did they get on the roof?
Because of the congestion in the city, cowherds
rear animals on the roof of buildings. The young
calves are bought up there and then inevitably
grow too bulky to be maneuvered down the stairs.
