जिस तरह अयोध्या के रग-रग में राम हैं, ठीक उसी प्रकार ओरछा की धड़कन में भी राम विराजमान हैं. राम यहां धर्म से परे हैं. हिंदू हों या मुस्लिम, दोनों के ही वे आराध्य हैं. अयोध्या और ओरछा का करीब 600 वर्ष पुराना नाता है. कहा जाता है कि 16वीं शताब्दी में ओरछा के बुंदेला शासक मधुकरशाह की महारानी कुंवरि गणेश अयोध्या से रामलला को ओरछा ले आईं थीं. पौराणिक कथाओं के अनुसार ओरछा के शासक मधुकरशाह कृष्ण भक्त थे, जबकि उनकी महारानी कुंवरि गणेश, राम उपासक. इसके चलते दोनों के बीच अक्सर विवाद भी होता था. एक बार मधुकर शाह ने रानी को वृंदावन जाने का प्रस्ताव द‍िया पर उन्होंने विनम्रतापूर्वक उसे अस्वीकार करते हुए अयोध्या जाने की जिद कर ली. तब राजा ने रानी पर व्यंग्य किया क‍ि अगर तुम्हारे राम सच में हैं तो उन्हें अयोध्या से ओरछा लाकर दिखाओ.

Ayodhya and Orchha have a relationship of about 600 years. It is said that in the 16th century, Queen Kunwari Ganesh of Madhukarshah, the Bundela ruler of Orchha, had brought Ramlala from Ayodhya to Orchha. According to mythology, Orchha's ruler Madhukarshah was a devotee of Krishna, while his queen Kunwari Ganesh was a devotee of Ram. Due to this, there were often disputes between the two. Once Madhukar Shah proposed the queen to go to Vrindavan but she politely rejected him and insisted on going to Ayodhya. Then the king sneered at the queen that if your Ram is real then bring him from Ayodhya to Orchha.
