00:00 As we've been hearing there, the Keteka Prime Minister Anwar al-Hakur has been summoned
00:06 back to Pakistan in light of ongoing events.
00:10 And the foreign minister, who's in Uganda, he's also been sent back.
00:14 There's a special national security meeting that's been organized for Friday, so that's
00:20 what they're heading back for.
00:23 And here in Davos, it's really highlighting what many delegates here have been talking
00:28 about, this myriad of geopolitical risks that have been overshadowing economic optimism.
00:36 We heard from China that the economy's growing.
00:38 The U.S. seems to be heading for a soft landing.
00:42 Inflation seems to be being reined in a little bit.
00:45 So there should be a lot of talk about economic optimism, except what they're focusing on
00:51 here are those geopolitical risks, this being a case in point.
00:54 We've got wars taking place in Europe, in Africa, in the Middle East.
00:59 We're on the cusp of another global shipping crisis with the Houthi rebel attacks in the
01:05 Red Sea, with climate change impacts in the Panama Canal.
01:10 And all of this is having a huge effect on what's going on with policymaking, especially
01:17 Robin, in such an important election year.
01:21 And Juliet, we've heard from the Israeli president, who's delivered an address defending his country's
01:26 military operation in Gaza.
01:29 Yes, we have.
01:33 Israel's President Yitzhak Herzog gave a speech in the Congress Hall.
01:38 He called for a very strong coalition to come together to face Iran and its proxies, which
01:43 he called an empire of evil.
01:46 He called on those at Davos and indeed the entire universe, in fact, to work endlessly
01:51 to release the hostages that are still being held.
01:55 And he said, in addition to that, he wanted to have a better future for Palestinians.
01:59 He said, we are all neighbors.
02:02 He was very scathing, though, too, about the case that's taking place against Israel at
02:08 the International Court of Justice.
02:11 It's a game of hypocrisy that South Africa is using the Convention Against Genocide,
02:21 which was brought and enacted by the international family of nations following the worst atrocity
02:28 of humankind, which is the Holocaust against the Jews, and World War II, against the state
02:32 of Israel, which is a nation-state of the Jewish people, defending itself under international
02:37 law.
02:38 He called on the entire international community to stand with Israel and reject this claim.
02:45 Herzog also said that a key element of ending the war with Hamas would be a normalizing
02:51 of ties between Israel and Saudi Arabia.
02:55 And he said, Robin, that if that happened, it could be a game-changer, not for just what's
03:00 happening in Gaza, but for the entire Middle East.
