Ray Tellier & His San Francisco Orchestra - Idolizing

The biggest musical influence on Australian jazz in the period 1923-1928 was a succession of visiting white American jazz (or dance) orchestras, mainly from the West Coast like Frank Ellis and his Californians, who arrived in 1923. Thousands of dance fans regularly flocked to see them at Sydney's largest dance hall, the Palais Royal. According to several sources, it seems Ray Tellier was one of those West Coast bands, totally unknown outside Australia, but who rose to fame Down Under, and played a significant role in development of jazz of the country. This outstanding record was made in 1926, immediately after the introduction of the electrical recording system in Australia. The vocalist remained uncredited.
