00:04 and welcome to Mercedes-Benz at CES 2024.

00:08 And to kick things off, I'd like to welcome to stage

00:10 member of the board of management of Mercedes-Benz Group AG

00:14 and chief technology officer, Marcus Schaefer.

00:20 - So good morning, everyone, from my side.

00:26 It's great to be back here in Las Vegas.

00:29 And we have a clear vision of a hyper-personalized

00:32 Mercedes-Benz user experience.

00:35 But what does that mean?

00:38 It starts with a major shift in the relationship

00:41 between the driver and the car.

00:44 With artificial intelligence, tomorrow's Mercedes-Benz

00:48 will know its driver like never before.

00:51 It will recognize who's driving, meaning it can respond

00:55 to give you what you want when you want it.

00:59 Suggestions will be based on factors such as location,

01:04 time of the day, and battery charge.

01:07 This, why we call it hyper-personalized.

01:11 The concept CLA class, which has its North American

01:15 premiere here at CES.

01:18 Because the hyper-personalized Mercedes user experience

01:22 is also electric.

01:24 There will be a total of four models, a four-door coupe,

01:28 a shooting brake, and two SUVs.

01:31 If you look inside the concept CLA class here at the booth,

01:37 you will see an illuminated,

01:39 high-performance, water-cooled chip.

01:43 It stands for the power of our Mercedes-Benz

01:46 operating system, MBOS.

01:50 It's a chip to cloud architecture,

01:52 and it's a completely new approach.

01:56 It's actually an enabler of hyper-personalization,

02:00 and it gives us control to all the domains,

02:03 allowing us to take the customer experience

02:07 into a whole new dimension.

02:09 One of them is our new proactive MBUX virtual assistant,

02:14 powered by generative AI and amazing 3D graphics.

02:22 An MBUX virtual assistant is the next big milestone.

02:27 To tell you more about it, I'd like to welcome on stage

02:31 my dear colleague, Chief Software Officer, Magnus Oerstberg.

02:47 and good morning, ladies and gentlemen.

02:49 As Markus said, the next virtual assistant

02:53 is the next big thing and the big proof point

02:56 for the hyper-personalized experience at Mercedes-Benz.

03:00 It is intelligent, proactive, and empathetic,

03:05 with a more natural and human-like interaction.

03:09 So in the major step, our virtual assistant

03:12 presents a new face to the customer,

03:15 one with expressions that are easy to understand

03:18 and intuitive.

03:19 When it interacts with the driver,

03:22 the assistant uses movements, light, intensity, and color.

03:27 So for instance, you can quickly and intuitively tell

03:31 if the virtual assistant is speaking to you,

03:34 listening, or just thinking.

03:37 So knowing the mood of the virtual assistant

03:41 elevates the interaction beyond

03:43 your simple messages and responses.

03:46 So moving on over to advanced graphics,

03:49 they play actually a huge role here

03:51 and open up an exciting new opportunities

03:54 for this visual communication to assist the virtual assistant.

03:58 So here we're using 3D graphics from Unity Game Engine

04:03 that really can elevate many aspects of the user interface.

04:07 It will be available on the MBUS in the MMA platform,

04:10 starting with MMA and then rolling out to all the vehicles.

04:13 - Today, Mercedes-Benz is presenting its vision

04:15 for the future of in-car digital entertainment.

04:19 - We have some big news here.

04:20 It's a new, unique cooperation with Audible,

04:23 Mercedes, and Amazon Music,

04:26 and it will truly transform the way you listen to podcasts,

04:30 audio books, music tracks in the car.

04:33 - And joining him also is Steve Boom,

04:35 Amazon VP for Audio, Twitch, and Games.

04:38 (upbeat music)

04:45 - For us, the car is the living room.

04:48 And to bring together the leader

04:51 in immersive audio storytelling,

04:53 along with the best spatial audio technology,

04:56 and the leader who's bringing that

04:58 into the automotive environment,

05:00 which is, like I said, the living room for audio,

05:03 is the partnership made in heaven.

05:05 Right out of the gate, you already will have access

05:07 to the largest catalog of spoken word audio

05:12 and the largest catalog of spoken word

05:14 immersive audio in Dolby Atmos.
