Hythe Town FC calls for fans to watch biggest fixture in recent history

Hythe Town Football Club is calling on as many supporters as possible to push their team towards a win this weekend in round four of the FA Trophy, or else they could face some big losses.

00:00 Non-league Step 4 club Hivetown is about to play what will be their biggest game in recent

00:05 history after reaching the fourth round of the FA Trophy for the very first time.

00:10 However, club chairman Gary Johnson is fearful that without the £5,000 worth of prize money

00:15 that they could be set to win, the club will suffer a huge loss just for putting on the

00:20 game.

00:21 And that's because their National League North visitors Chorley are entitled to around

00:25 £3,500 worth of travel and accommodation expenses for what will be a five and a half

00:30 hour trip down from Lancashire.

00:32 "We're talking about £4,200, £4,500 when we look at the other costs of the flood lighting,

00:38 the stewards and bits and pieces.

00:39 So it's a big cost and we share that expenditure with Chorley.

00:44 But if we go by our normal gates of £200 or so, then that's a significant loss for

00:49 this football club.

00:50 And it's a loss that no non-league club really, really wants.

00:55 So the way to negate that is by sponsorship.

00:59 But you know, the more important thing for this Saturday is come down, come to see the

01:03 Canons.

01:04 It's a tenner to come in, it's all pay, and be in an FA competition.

01:07 So look, it'll be a great occasion.

01:12 Hivetown have already caused three upsets getting to round four of the FA Trophy where

01:17 they'll face Chorley this weekend.

01:19 And with that record, a fourth could be on the cards, which is why the club is calling

01:23 on as many supporters as possible to come down to the ground and be that 12th man on

01:28 the pitch.

01:29 First, Hive beat Step 3 Concord in the final round of qualifying, before winning a penalty

01:34 shootout against Step 2 Tumbridge Angels in the second round.

01:41 And then getting past another Step 3 side, Whitehawk, in the third.

01:45 Hivetown progress to the fourth round of the Isuzu FA Trophy.

01:50 Now that it's down to the last 32, it's all hands on at Reachfield to prepare for the

01:55 big day.

01:56 "To keep a club going, it takes all sorts of people and all kinds of jobs and what they

02:03 can do and everything like that.

02:05 We've got quite a good group of people, from people that come down and do some painting,

02:10 to some old retired guys that spend all day divveting the pitch.

02:15 And we've got a really good team of people now that all want the same thing.

02:20 So everyone's singing from the same sheet and it's all about the success of the football

02:23 club."

02:24 In the 47 years since Hivetown moved here to Reachfield Stadium, one of the club's best

02:29 achievements was reaching the first round of the FA Cup in 2010 when they faced Hereford.
