00:00 This has been an appalling miscarriage of justice, an appalling treatment of all the people affected
00:07 and it's right that they get the redress that they deserve.
00:10 That's why the government has put in place three different compensation schemes
00:14 that have already paid out almost £150 million to thousands of people who are affected
00:19 and we're keen to go as quickly as possible.
00:22 There are interim payments available of up to £600,000 to get support to people who need it quickly
00:27 and of course, as I said previously, everyone who thinks that they should have a claim
00:32 must come forward, talk to the authorities so we can get their claims processed as quickly as possible.
00:37 More broadly, the Justice Secretary is also looking at other options for how we can provide support for people.
00:43 I can't pre-empt those findings but we're keen to do everything we can
00:46 because this was absolutely appalling. It should never have happened.
00:49 We don't want it to happen again and that's why we're working very hard to make it right.
