Jorge Méndez's Fatal Crash @ El Jabalí 2022

A terrible accident which resulted in the death of a rider, occurred at the Autódromo Internacional El Jabalí, during the first round of the Copa ESA 503 Central American Championship, around noon on Sunday, 13 March 2022.

The deceased motorcyclist was Jorge Méndez, 22-year-old, from El Salvador. While running in the leading group shortly after the start of the race, he lost control of his #22 bike at the exit of a fast bend of the circuit. Méndez was thrown against the outside wall, before being hit by his bike. Death was almost instantaneous.

A well-known rider in his country, Jorge Méndez was a member of the Club Biker KNK. One month after his death, the moto club organised the "Copa Jorge Méndez" at El Jabalí, in his memory.

Located about 25 kilometers (16 miles) northwest of the capital city San Salvador, in the village of Quezaltepeque, La Libertad district, El Salvador, the Autódromo Internacional El Jabalí is a 3.250-kilometer long permanent racing circuit, operational since February 1979.
