Born on 17 November 1972 in Pintos, parish of Marcón in the province of Pontevedra, Spain, Víctor Magariños Pazos made his debut in racing in his childhood years, driving a go-kart prepared by his family on dirt tracks. He debuted in rallying in 1995, participating in the Albariño Rally with a Seat 1430. He became runner-up in the Galician Rally Championship and Galician Hillclimb Championship in the historic cars category that year. He finished in second place in the standings in 1996 and 1998 and won the Galician Historic Hillclimb Championship in 1997. In 1999 Magariños switched to a BMW M3 and finished in third place overall, first in his class in the Galician Rally Championship. Since then he became an avid participant in Galician rallies and hillclimbs, as a member of Integral Motorsport team.

Víctor Magariños lost his life on Saturday, 12 June 2021, during a reconnaissance session before the Rally de Pontevedra, which was scheduled to be held from 18 to 19 June 2021. At noon, Magariños drove a blue private BMW which was not equipped with roll bars, on the second kilometer of EP-0401 road along the course of the special stage of the rally "Cerdedo Cotobade", in the vicinity of Carballedo, Galicia in north-western Spain, when he collided nearly head-on with a car driven by another rally driver, Portuguese Ricardo Costa, who drove the same stretch in opposite direction. Both cars were heavily damaged and firefighters used their equipment to release both drivers from the wreckage.

Víctor Magariños Pazos was pronounced dead on the spot. He was 48 years old. Ricardo Costa was transported to hospital by helicopter as he received serious injuries in the crash. Reconnaissance was taken on roads opened to traffic.
