On Sunday, 10 July 2016, Olin Hanák was competing in the 600 cm3 race, at the František Bartoš Circuit in Radvanice, neighborhood to Ostrava in Moravian-Silesian Region, Czech Republic. This was the eighth edition of the event which was a round of the 2016 Czech International Road Racing Motorcycle Championship.

Olin Hanák qualified in 12th position, riding his Honda CBR600. On lap nine, going through the forest section of the road course, he lost control of his bike after a left hand turn, fell down and slid into a ditch that was protected by a catch fence. He sustained massive injuries from which he died almost immediately. He was 22 years old.

The race was planned to be held over 12 laps, but was stopped after Hanák’s fatal accident.

Olin Hanák began riding motorcycles at the age of twelve and two years later he finished his first race on his home Kyjov circuit. He raced in the Supersport 600 category at international level, since 2011. He raced with a measure of success at home and abroad, competing at Frohburg in Germany as well as Cookstown and in the famous Ulster Grand Prix. In 2014 Hanák survived another horrific accident at the Těrlicko circuit.

This was the second fatal accident involving competitors in that event at the Ostrava-Radvanice within two years. On 13 July 2014 the Austrian rider Peter Benderle was killed as a result of a massive pile-up during the opening lap of the same 600 cm3 class race.
