It's simple... the residents of Bamboo Settlement Number Two did not get the required approvals to build a roadside guard booth in their area.

That's why it was broken down.

That's according to the Chairman of the Tunapuna-Piarco Regional Corporation.

He says the residents are now distancing themselves the man who owned the booth.

00:00 This is the before shot and this is the after shot taken on Thursday.
00:10 The controversial security booth in Bamboo Settlement number two is now gone.
00:14 Demolished by the Tunapuna Piyako Regional Corporation.
00:20 The demolition process started around 5.30 a.m. I understand it was about 25 minutes long.
00:26 It was a very smooth process, well executed by our technical team, members of the TTPS and the municipal police were all present.
00:34 As demolition crews moved in Thursday morning, Austin says there was no resistance by Bamboo residents.
00:42 This process is by no way political. This was actually something that was raised by the council for the area.
00:52 We acted as a council, as a corporation together with PNM and UNC.
01:00 The booth was demolished as the community fed up with crime in the area did not get the required approvals to build a guard booth in Bamboo number two.
01:10 I'm reading here in the third paragraph the owner of the guard booth number two in Bamboo number two is Mr. Inshan Ishmel.
01:18 Austin was reading from this letter from the Bamboo number two community council dated December 5th.
01:26 They have since distanced themselves by stating we can no longer take part in this discussion on his behalf.
01:32 Still wanting to secure the community, residents are now willing to work with the corporation going through the proper process according to Austin.
01:42 I believe that the Bamboo number two community council will return and do the right thing the right way.
01:50 Asked about the Tunapuna Piyarko Regional Corporation enforcing the law with other structures.
01:56 The other guard booths mentioned at least within our Tunapuna Piyarko region, they have all gone through the process.
