I visited some employers who have had to close down in recent years.
00:05
They have a good opportunity to consider the sector's opportunities,
00:09
and they have other jobs in the area as well.
00:13
But unfortunately, the experience and professional skills that are needed in the industry
00:18
cannot find another opportunity because they do not have the means to achieve that.
00:25
They do not have a private car, and there are no buses travelling at the time
00:30
to take them to other parts of the city.
00:32
So, there are very few buses that are effectively working on our economy
00:36
and addressing other problems, such as social and mental health problems.
00:43
Before there were many buses in the area, but these problems are happening now.
00:48
So, what do you think about taking action in the short term
00:52
to improve public transport and ensure that people are able to continue to work
00:56
and to continue their education?
00:59
Well, Llywydd, bus services are important for all of us.
01:03
Many employers have to spend a lot of revenue to support the long-term work of the industry.
01:10
But, in the area of the Merioneth area,
01:15
the Gwynedd Council is starting a new T22 service early in 2024,
01:23
and it will improve the connections between Port Madog, Blaenau Ffestiniog and Llaernafon.
01:28
That will be over seven days a week,
01:32
and I hope that will help the people who live in the area in Blaenau Ffestiniog
01:37
and in the area that Mabon and Gwynford have explained.
