00:07 On Sunday, December 10, Musk asked the platform's users

00:11 if he should reinstate Jones' account.

00:13 Close to 2 million votes were cast by the time the poll closed,

00:17 with about 70 percent voting in favor of Jones' return.

00:20 The platform permanently banned Jones and his website InfoWars in 2018,

00:24 saying the accounts violated its behavior policies.

00:27 Since Musk's takeover of the platform, it has reinstated suspended accounts,

00:31 including the account of former U.S. President Donald Trump.

00:35 Alex Jones, who has promoted conspiracy theories about the Sandy Hook school shooting,

00:39 was ordered last year to pay nearly $1.5 billion in damages to relatives of the victims

00:45 for falsely claiming they were actors who staged the shooting

00:48 as part of a government plot to seize Americans' guns.
