Corinthian FC manager describes young player who collapsed during game

Cameron Beckles' family and the club say there have been positive signs in the past few days, with slight movement and him being able to say a couple of words as well as laughing and joking.

00:02 I had a really good chat having never met mum and dad

00:05 before these circumstances,

00:06 and you meet them in the hospital for the first time.

00:08 And I said, we had a really good, honest chat with Cameron

00:10 at the start of the season,

00:11 and he wasn't quite in our plans.

00:12 He came to us in pre-season and did well.

00:15 And we offered him the opportunity to go and play

00:16 at a club that we'd lined up for him.

00:18 But his answer was, "No, I want to play for Corinthians.

00:21 I'm going to prove you wrong."

00:22 And he showed from those stages that he was a fighter

00:25 and he wanted to work hard and he got his opportunity.

00:27 But he's taking this challenge on

00:29 like he does with his football.

00:30 He's leaving no stone unturned.

00:31 He's fighting for everything.

00:33 And it's really, really good to see,

00:35 even though it's small baby steps.

00:36 I think it's one of those,

00:37 the wider football community comes together

00:39 in times of crisis like this really is.

00:42 We all have our frenemies

00:44 and everyone has their own football rivalries.

00:46 But I think something like this happening

00:48 to a 19-year-old kid just puts everything

00:49 into perspective a little bit.
