Malaysia is very upset with and opposes the actions of the United States to veto the United Nations (UN) Security Council resolution that calls for an immediate ceasefire in the conflict between Israel and Palestine.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on Saturday (Dec 9) said that, on behalf of Malaysia, he also regretted the attitude of the US, which still defends the acts of killing children without restriction in Gaza.

00:00 First, about the UN Security Council,
00:07 the killing of children every day,
00:13 the whole world is against it.
00:16 But I still resent and oppose the attitude of the US
00:22 that does not care about human rights.
00:25 If we want to evaluate the US as a democracy,
00:30 a human rights, we have to first deal with it.
00:35 I think that's why we are resentful and oppose the US
00:43 that defends the killing of children without any restrictions.
00:51 I would like on behalf of the Malaysian government
00:55 strongly condemn, protest against the decision of the US
01:01 to oppose ceasefire at the Security Council.
01:05 I mean, notwithstanding all other arguments,
01:07 we have suggested we must stop the killing of innocent civilians,
01:14 babies and women.
01:16 And there is no reason, absolutely no basis for anyone to deny this
01:24 and to frustrate the process.
01:28 And therefore it is really unfortunate.
01:30 I am deeply saddened by this outrageous decision
01:38 to ignore the clamour and appeal by the international community.
01:43 Thank you.
