00:04 They've been made out of anything from wood to aluminum and carbon fiber.

00:09 But today, there's a new kid on the block.

00:12 3D printing is a completely automated process that creates a 3D object from a computer file.

00:24 Apparently, it takes just 20 hours to create this frame from nothing.

00:37 We are going to find out by visiting engineers at the cutting edge of bike design and manufacturing.

00:44 Clients, they want a specific type of bicycle frame that is hard to manufacture by hand.

00:54 We have eight robots and they're usually continuously printing metal.

00:58 The software will calculate all the angular movements of the robot to steer the 3D printing process.
