00:00 - Australian cycling is all about speed.
00:02 Whether it's at the local velodrome,
00:05 an amateur criterium, or racing down the Champs-Élysées,
00:09 we love to go fast and we love to win.
00:12 - You know, most Australians that are doing well now,
00:15 they're hard guys and they're hungry guys
00:17 because, you know, they sacrifice a lot to be here.
00:20 - The track gives you more opportunity
00:21 to go through that race day process,
00:24 that mindset that you need to execute
00:27 to try and win bike races.
00:29 - There's not many athletes that go from sprinter
00:31 to road rider when you're one of them.
00:33 - You're born with sprint fibres,
00:35 but you can train endurance fibres.
00:38 - I'll learn about the physical.
00:39 - The more aggressive the racing,
00:42 the better it was for me.
00:44 - And more interestingly, the mental capabilities
00:48 required to be one of the fastest sprinters in the peloton.
00:51 - Particularly with Australian sprinters,
00:55 they're not backward in coming forward
00:57 to establishing their position at the front.
01:00 You've got to go in with plenty of attitude.
01:02 - It's Nods, it's one for the mantlepiece,
01:04 it's Caleb Ewan.
01:06 - I want to find out why it is that my homeland of Australia
01:09 has been able to produce so many great sprinters.
01:12 - One of the first sessions my dad did with me,
01:17 he was teaching me how to throw headbutts on elbows.
01:20 - Look at O'Grady there, battling it.
01:22 - I'm off to catch up with Robbie.
01:24 Any special messages?
01:25 - Oh, I can give him a headbutt or two.
01:27 - Righto.
01:28 - Other than that, say good day.
