Transcript
00:00 In June, a catastrophic independent report concluded that discrimination was widespread
00:06 in English cricket.
00:07 This included sexism, racism, classism and elitism.
00:11 In an effort to combat this, the England and Wales Cricket Board has launched an independent
00:16 regulator to watch over the game in this country.
00:19 It was made clear that the regulator will have duties overseeing safeguarding, anti-corruption,
00:24 anti-doping and anti-discrimination.
00:27 It will feature a new board and is separate to those within the ECB and for now will be
00:32 headed up by former police officer Dave Lewis before a permanent director is appointed next
00:37 year.
00:38 The chief executive of the ECB, Richard Gould, stated that cricket should have the best processes
00:43 in place, whilst Lewis said that the new regulator will protect and promote the good of the game
00:49 and everyone involved.
00:50 Following a summer of awe-inspiring Ashes cricket on the field, the ECB will now hope
00:56 that things will begin to change off it.
