00:00 President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. himself promised to do everything in his power to save all the Filipino seafarers

00:09 who are now held by the Houthi group.

00:11 And while they are waiting for their release,

00:14 the Department of Migrant Workers will continue to provide assistance to the families of the so-called seafarers.

00:25 President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. promised that the government will not ignore the situation of the 17 Filipino seafarers

00:33 who are now held by the Houthi rebels.

00:35 This is what the President insisted on his message to the Filipino community in Dubai

00:40 after he canceled his trip there to address the incident.

00:44 According to the executive, the government will do all the remedies to recover the Filipino seafarers.

00:52 We are forming a delegation to go to them and talk to those who are held by them so that they can go home.

01:03 Maybe you can understand that we should prioritize that because we need to ensure the safety of our fellowmen.

01:15 The President also said that all the Filipinos who were held in Gaza Strip were released.

01:20 But he was saddened that some Filipinos were held because of the chaos there.

01:24 So that this will not happen again, the President insisted.

01:28 We are doing our best to make our fellowmen's situation better.

01:39 And in the near future, I hope they can go home.

01:43 The Department of Migrant Workers assured that there is coordination with the families of the Filipino seafarers.

01:49 The government will continue to provide assistance to them.

01:53 We are also providing them the necessary assistance in terms of other agency services such as the DOH.

02:02 If they have any needs in terms of their families, their health, their well-being.

02:08 We also handhold them with respect if they need counseling and advice. We also provide the necessary services.

02:20 The DMW is also in talks with the Ship Owners Employers Group and Seafarers Group Transport Worker Federation

02:28 regarding the possibility of expanding to high-risk areas in the Yemeni countryside

02:33 following the separation of Filipino seafarers.

02:36 What happened here in Galaxy Leader was an event that was outside of the high-risk area and zone.

02:44 So that basically means, if it's a high-risk area, the seafarer will be informed in advance

02:54 if the ship will pass through the high-risk area and has the right to refuse.

02:59 But if the seafarer still chooses to board the ship, his salary will be doubled.

03:06 That's the effect of a declared high-risk area or zone.

03:10 But that has to go through the social partner venue of discussing this,

03:14 which is what he calls the International Bargaining Forum or IBF.

03:20 So we're hoping that this will be discussed at the IBF, International Bargaining Forum level.

03:25 Meanwhile, President Marcos Jr. assured that he will make up for his absence in the Filipino community in Dubai.

03:33 I promise you, if there's another chance, we will do it again.

03:40 I will make it up to you. We will do a better program so that I can make up for you.

03:48 He also acknowledged the hard work and dedication of the OFWs in Dubai,

03:52 which he is greatly honored in the Philippines.
