Surah Al-Baqarah, Ayah 178 (Arabic Recitation): “ يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ كُتِبَ عَلَيۡكُمُ ٱلۡقِصَاصُ فِي ٱلۡقَتۡلَىۖ ٱلۡحُرُّ بِٱلۡحُرِّ وَٱلۡعَبۡدُ بِٱلۡعَبۡدِ وَٱلۡأُنثَىٰ بِٱلۡأُنثَىٰۚ فَمَنۡ عُفِيَ لَهُۥ مِنۡ أَخِيهِ شَيۡءٞ فَٱتِّبَاعُۢ بِٱلۡمَعۡرُوفِ وَأَدَآءٌ إِلَيۡهِ بِإِحۡسَٰنٖۗ ذَٰلِكَ تَخۡفِيفٞ مِّن رَّبِّكُمۡ وَرَحۡمَةٞۗ فَمَنِ ٱعۡتَدَىٰ بَعۡدَ ذَٰلِكَ فَلَهُۥ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٞ ”
Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 178 (English Translation): “ O you who have believed, prescribed for you is legal retribution for those murdered - the free for the free, the slave for the slave, and the female for the female. But whoever overlooks from his brother [i.e., the killer] anything, then there should be a suitable follow-up and payment to him [i.e., the deceased's heir or legal representative] with good conduct. This is an alleviation from your Lord and a mercy. But whoever transgresses after that will have a painful punishment. ”
Surah Al-Baqarah, Ayat 178 (Urdu Translation): “ اے ایمان والو! تم پر مقتولوں کا قصاص لینا فرض کیا گیا ہے، آزاد آزاد کے بدلے، غلام غلام کے بدلے، عورت عورت کے بدلے ۔ ہاں جس کسی کو اس کے بھائی کی طرف سے کچھ معافی دے دی جائے اسے بھلائی کی اتباع کرنی چاہئے اور آسانی کے ساتھ دیت ادا کرنی چاہئے۔ تمہارے رب کی طرف سے یہ تخفیف اور رحمت ہے اس کے بعد بھی جو سرکشی کرے اسے درد ناک عذاب ہوگا۔ ”
