Inverness mum who's baby tragically died in his sleep says 'my little boys face is at the top of the world' as his flag reaches Everest.
Transcript
00:00 I'm Daisy, Albie's mum. Albie was my little one-year-old. He was just so fun.
00:06 He learned to smile really early and he learned to clap his hands before anything.
00:13 He was just full of cheer and full of joy.
00:23 He was one year and two weeks when he sadly died of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome.
00:31 Since then we've been trying to honour his memory in different ways and keep him with us every day.
00:39 We did a walk back in July where we had, I can't actually remember how many people took part in the walk,
00:45 but there were quite a few people who took part in the walk and we did it for the month of July.
00:50 It ended up that we walked the equivalent of Inverness to Everest.
00:56 So I just kind of on a whim thought, I wonder if I could get an explorer to take a picture of Albie up Everest.
01:06 So we got in touch and we heard back from the lovely Lauren from Can Do Adventures,
01:14 who said that she was going up Everest in November and that she would be honoured to take Albie's flag up
01:19 because she's been impacted by Baby Lost Her Auntie, I think it was Lost A Baby.
01:24 So the story was quite close to her heart.
01:27 So she said she would take Albie's flag up with her and it just means the world to us,
01:33 just to see him, like it sounds weird, but to see him having adventures and having different experiences
01:43 and going different places and it's sad because it shouldn't be how he has his adventures,
01:50 but it feels like the right thing to do and doing it with the charity as well means that we're still raising awareness for the charity, which is great.
02:00 I don't know what the word would be, I was quite overwhelmed with emotion
02:04 because I just couldn't believe that my little boy's face would be flying at the top of the world.
02:10 It's just, it's such an overwhelming thought, but I also just feel enormous gratitude to all the walkers that made it possible in the first place
02:20 because they were out walking every day and racking up the miles, so enormous gratitude to them and also to Lauren, who's took the flag up.
02:30 Congratulations to everyone who walked the equivalent from Inverness to Everest.
02:37 Kandu, we're so honoured to finally bring your flag here to Everest Base Camp in support of Albie's flag and held in our hearts.
02:48 Hope we've done you proud.
02:50 Yay!
02:52 (upbeat music)
