00:00 Nightly greetings.
00:06 One and all, William Thieau, homegrown and happy here to bring you the latest breaking
00:11 events for PTV News Now.
00:14 Groups of Rohingya Muslims are again on the move from their Bangladeshi refugee camps,
00:21 where they sought payment from the abuse and atrocities of Myanmar military and police
00:26 since the summer of 2017.
00:29 This time, Bangladeshi gangs are to blame for the extortion and harassment in which
00:34 Rohingyas have been abducted, held hostage for ransom, and then tortured and slain if
00:39 ransom is not paid or demands not met or sent away from human trafficking.
00:45 And the brutality continues to escalate all throughout the massive camps where refugees
00:50 number in the hundreds of thousands and prompted hundreds to set sail for two-week perilous
00:55 sea journey to safety in Indonesia. Over half a dozen boats have made it to Aceh, Indonesia,
01:02 where more are expected to arrive and Indonesian coast patrols to step up efforts to turn them
01:09 away.
01:11 Four weeks since the fateful Saturday weekend of October 7, China has kept mum on Israel's
01:18 war versus Hamas in the tightly enclosed city of Gaza, even as the United States and most
01:24 of the EU have rallied on the side of the Jewish State.
01:28 On Wednesday, Chinese Foreign Minister will preside over a UN Security Council to take
01:33 up its extended ceasefire proposal.
01:36 China has long maintained its stand for an extended, truce, and ultimate pact to end
01:42 the war and humanitarian crisis in the condemned Palestinian city, where at least 15,000 have
01:48 died, more than 5,000 of whom were children. This as the last day of a four-day truce that
01:54 began on Friday and delayed for quite a while on Saturday ends tomorrow, while the U.S.,
02:01 Qatari officials and more are lobbying hard to prolong the truce that has yielded 41 hostages
02:07 released by Hamas and over 120 Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails.
02:13 In addition to an extended truce, Foreign Minister Wang Yi will butt for a roadmap to
02:19 lasting peace and two-state solution that will eventually lead to Palestinian independence.
02:25 For his part, Israeli Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu is unmoved and vows to resume attacks
02:31 on Gaza with the full force of the IDF.
02:36 In other news, Pope Francis may be infallible and without fault under ex-Cathedra, but is
02:42 completely helpless against the unseen flu virus, which he had over the weekend and is
02:47 now on the path to recovery. So says Vatican spokesperson Matteo Bruni in a statement claiming
02:53 the Pope has no fever and his respiratory condition is substantially improving. On Saturday,
03:00 the Pope's activities for the day had to be scrapped over a diagnosis of light flu symptoms,
03:05 but ruled out any pulmonary complications as per city scan results. As a result, Pope
03:11 Francis led the recital of the Angelus from his residence rather than from a window overlooking
03:16 St. Peter's Basilica Square. He is up for a major and much-anticipated speech at the
03:22 United Nations Climate Summit in Dubai next Saturday. Besides respiratory problems, a
03:27 host of physical ailments has hounded the Pope since 2013, to include an inflamed colon,
03:33 nagging knee pain and hip problems.
03:38 At this moment, let's turn to our colleague at the PTV station in Pine City for the latest
03:43 developments in the Cordilleras.

04:42 It has been a time of learning, sharing and above all, a time of embracing transformative
04:49 potential of art as a catalyst for change, but has also sparked meaningful conversations
04:56 about the critical issues facing our communities.
05:00 Let us carry the spirit of Ibaguil, beyond these festival days. Let us be catalysts for
05:06 positive change in our daily lives, in our communities and in the way we relate to the
05:13 world. Together we can create a Baguio that is not only rich in artistic expression, but
05:20 also beacon of progress, inclusivity, transparency and a model for good governance.
