Oliver je osamelý štyridsiatnik, ktorý pracuje ako dispečer letovej prevádzky. Svoj prázdny život si napĺňa pozeraním televízie a pozorovaním rodiny žijúcej v dome oproti - považuje ich za ideál šťastia. Rodinu najskôr len sleduje, no postupne sa o nej chce dozvedieť viac. Čoskoro si uvedomí, že hranice súkromného života sú krehkejšie, ako sa zdá.
