00:38 Yes sir, old mother nature has sure carved out some mighty pretty scenery.

00:44 Just look at them rocks over yonder.

00:47 The Indians tell me some of the daggonest legends about 'em you ever listen to.

00:53 For instance, you take this here coyote rock over there.

00:56 Well sir, it seems as how a long time ago certain coyotes lived in these parts.

01:04 Old man tales.

01:07 And a mighty powerful critter he was, with a voice that would turn an opera star green within.

01:14 [howling]

01:36 Now this here ombre had one weakness.

01:40 Lamb chuck.

01:42 Fat, juicy, plump lamb chuck.

01:45 [music]

01:51 Mm-mm. His favorite dish. Lamb chops on the hook.

01:58 But this flock of potential chops was being looked after by man's faithful and trusted friend.

02:04 The sheepdog. The steady critter who never failed to count his sheep as they bedded down for the night.

02:12 His sense of responsibility had taught him to be wide awake and ever alert.

02:18 His keen eyes kept a sharp lookout.

02:21 Nothing could swirl him from his vigilant watch.

02:28 But this frisky little rascal Blacky wanted to romp around a bit.

02:34 But the old dog headed him off.

02:37 You could almost hear him say, "Now look here son.

02:41 There's a sheep-eating coyote lurking in them hills.

02:45 Just wait and wrap his jaws around a little critter like you. Now get back in the grill and stay there."

02:54 Well, sir, nearby a certain lamb chops-eating varmint was up to no good.

03:01 He was getting closer and closer.

03:16 [roaring]

03:33 [snorting]

03:35 [gunshot]

03:36 [roaring]

03:41 The old bent tail was a clever one, all right.

03:45 That varmint had a whole patch of tricks for luring the sheepdog away from the grill.

04:14 [coughing]

04:19 All of a sudden the dog realized what had happened.

04:22 Old little lamb's left unguarded and the hungry coyote on the loose.

04:26 He'd better hide tail for home before it's too late.

04:29 But old bent tail knew all the shortcuts. He got there first.

05:29 - Well, the old dog had picked up the trail,

06:48 And he's sitting on that rock right over there.

06:51 The old dog told that little critter, shucks,

06:55 that coyote won't hurt you.

06:58 He's made of stone.
