'Serious warning': French ambassadors in Mideast & Maghreb dissent from Macron's 'damaging' policy

A group of French diplomats have penned a highly unusual joint memorandum deploring what they allege is a pro-Israeli bias from President Emmanuel Macron, adding to pressure on the president after sometimes controversial statements over the conflict between Israel and Hamas. French daily newspaper Le Figaro said on Monday that around a dozen French ambassadors accredited to the Middle East and North Africa countries signed the confidential note, calling it an "unprecedented gesture in the recent history of French diplomacy in the Arab world." The United States is also facing stiff dissent from their respective diplomats over its foreign policy as it relates to the Israel-Hamas war. For in-depth analysis and a deeper perspective on the unprecedented pushback from career diplomats over the brutal conflict in the Middle East, FRANCE 24's François Picard is joined by Georges Malbrunot, Le Figaro's Senior Correspondent.
