Sudbury Tower in Canterbury to be sold

Canterbury City Council's plan to sell Sudbury Tower has been met with a backlash.

00:18 When, you know, you could make this quite an exciting place.

00:21 You could, there's a wonderful tower at the top there,

00:23 have a little restaurant.

00:24 You could do all sorts of things, or a viewpoint.

00:27 It's a wonderful opportunity,

00:29 and we want to work with the council

00:31 because I know their intention are good.

00:34 They're doing the best they can for the city,

00:37 but they haven't got any money,

00:38 but we'll work with them to try and get something done

00:40 with this wonderful building.

00:42 I think it's really important

00:44 that a building of this heritage is kept as it is

00:48 so that people in the future

00:49 can appreciate the history of the city.

00:51 So it depends what a purchaser might want to do with it.

00:55 Perhaps a commercial,

00:56 perhaps a public house or restaurant, a museum,

01:00 that we have a very short-term museum space

01:01 or gallery space.

01:03 Something like that that the public can appreciate.

01:05 It's been left to the citizens

01:06 and we should be able to access it.
