00:00 Emmerdale spoilers, devastation as Lydia leaves Sam amid murder trauma.
00:05 Recent Emmerdale episodes saw the Dingle family under the spotlight as Lydia announced that
00:09 Craig, the man who raped her, had been found dead.
00:13 She was convinced that a member of her family was behind Craig's killing and proceeded to
00:17 quiz them one by one.
00:19 Knowing that Sam and Cain had tied Craig up in a barn, Lydia focused on her husband and
00:24 his brother.
00:26 But it soon became apparent that Belle, Aaron, Chaz, Charity, Caleb and Nate were all being
00:31 evasive about what really happened to Craig and what they'd been doing the previous day,
00:36 even Mandy and Marlon were caught out trying to hide the truth.
00:40 After Craig brutally raped Lydia, all she wanted to do was put the horrific incident
00:44 behind her.
00:45 With the support of Kim and Rona and her family, and visits to a counselor at the rape crisis
00:50 center, she was beginning to piece her life back together.
00:54 But with her family determined to bring Craig to justice when the police said they wouldn't
00:58 be pursuing the case, Belle, Mandy and Vinny turned up at Craig's workplace to expose him
01:03 in front of his staff team.
01:05 This backfired when Craig turned up at the wool pack later, and Lydia was distraught
01:09 when he threatened her whole family.
01:12 In flashback scenes that aired recently, Sam was seen attacking Craig.
01:17 Back in the pub, it became apparent he was under the impression Craig died as a result
01:21 of the injuries sustained in the attack.
01:24 In reality, Craig's death happened after Kim's horse bolted and kicked him to the ground,
01:29 Sam isn't a killer.
01:31 With the police still investigating the circumstances behind Craig's death, Lydia finds the situation
01:37 at home unbearable and makes a shock decision.
01:40 She tells Sam she's moving out of the family home, and will be staying at Home Farm where
01:44 Kim has offered her a place to stay.
01:47 Sam is devastated as he faces up to the fact that he's failed to support Lydia in the way
01:51 she needed him to, and now he could have lost her for good.
01:55 "There's a question mark as to whether Sam and Lydia can prevail and get back to any
01:59 sense of normality," James Houghton admitted.
02:03 But you would hope that their bond and strength as a couple is enough to enable that to happen
02:07 over time.
02:08 "They are a strong family unit and despite the perils and problems that come into their
02:12 lives I think their love is what binds them together.
02:15 Essentially we hope that love prevails over time."
