The King has hailed Kenya a "vitally important part" of the Commonwealth as he thanked members of the community for their welcome.

His Majesty was joined by Foreign Secretary James Cleverly at a reception at the British High Commissioner’s Residence where he met various members of Kenyan society including entrepreneurs, environmental champions, scientists, and sports figures. 00:16 >> If I may say so, it's been such a joy to have this opportunity
00:19 to meet really quite a lot of Kent during this visit
00:23 and to discover just how things have developed and changed
00:28 since I was here quite a long time ago, I hate to say it.
00:32 But it has been fascinating to meet all these people,
00:36 the entrepreneurs, the young entrepreneurs who are doing
00:38 such remarkable things here, coming
00:41 up with brilliant ideas particularly in terms of how
00:44 to cope with climate change and biodiversity loss,
00:48 thinking up clever solutions, nature-based and so on.
00:52 I do greatly appreciate the fact and for what it's worth
00:55 that Kenya is such a vitally important part of the Congo.
01:00 It is above all a family of nations
01:05 and the important thing I think is to retain
01:08 and maintain that family feel.
01:11 I hope it isn't too long before I come back again.
01:13 I may be on a sick by then.
01:16 But if I may say so, thank you so much
01:20 for the wonderful welcome you've given me and for putting
01:23 up with my fractured sohie.
01:26 Next time I come back I'll try
01:28 to give some more words I can say.
01:29 But in the meantime, bless you.
01:32 Take care of yourselves.
01:33 I think you can do that.
01:34 [ Applause ]
