00:00 So we're going off to the World Cup, you think we can't win.
00:03 You think the selection process is bad because the players are going to play.
00:07 I love this negativity, it's fantastic.
00:09 I love it, love it.
00:11 Keep going, keep going.
00:13 Keep going, keep going.
00:15 You know we're terrible.
00:17 Just tell us we're terrible and we'll prove you wrong.
00:21 As I said, hindsight's a wonderful thing.
00:25 When you make decisions at any time during your career, you get presented information at the time.
00:33 And you make decisions based on that information.
00:35 As I said, where we ended up was clearly not good enough.
00:39 Are you worried you're going to get sacked?
00:41 No, not worried.
00:43 I don't control those sort of things.
00:45 All I can do is coach.
00:47 I went to the World Cup, came in a short period of time.
00:49 Had to make a decision on the team.
00:51 Made a decision we needed to go with youth.
00:53 And whilst the results of the World Cup weren't the results we wanted,
00:57 I think I've left the Australian team in a great position to go on to 2027.
01:01 Look, I'm not a selector.
01:05 Sometimes I wish I was.
01:09 But again, hindsight's a wonderful thing.
01:11 There's certainly a gap between what we put out there on the field compared to our opposition.
01:17 Clearly with the results that we had.
01:19 And there are a lot of very capable and good players left at home.
01:23 Did you do a job interview with Japanese rugby a couple of weeks before the World Cup?
01:28 I don't know what you're talking about, mate.
01:30 I said I don't know what you're talking about, mate.
01:32 I'm committed to Coach Australia.
01:34 Next year?
01:35 I'm committed to Coach Australia.
01:37 I haven't spoken to anyone, as you know, around any of it.
01:43 Indeed, he's credited.
01:44 I mean, he put everything into 2023.
01:46 It didn't work out.
01:47 He made some bold decisions on selection.
01:49 But there's no lack of commitment from what I observed.
01:52 He's a world-class coach.
01:53 It didn't work out for Australia, but it may work out for someone else going forward.
