00:00 (crying)
00:02 - Anderson Cooper is struggling to hold back his emotions
00:11 over the Israel-Hamas war.
00:13 The CNN anchor fought tears during a live broadcast
00:16 from Tel Aviv after the network's interview
00:19 with an Israeli woman pleading for her family's safety
00:22 as they remain held hostage.
00:24 - Help us, please.
00:29 I'm sorry, I'm so emotional.
00:32 - Anderson isn't the only news personality
00:39 getting choked up on air
00:40 while reporting on the harrowing story.
00:43 CBS Morning's Nora O'Donnell was visibly distraught
00:46 while telling Gayle King about the outpouring of support
00:49 for a 24-year-old who was killed at a music festival
00:52 in Israel during the Hamas attack.
00:54 - They went on social media and asked for 10 people
00:57 to come to the funeral.
00:58 That is the number required for any Jewish religious service.
01:02 It is called a minyan.
01:04 And this is what they got.
01:06 Instead of 10 people,
01:08 tens of thousands of Israelis responded
01:11 to share in the family's grief.
01:13 So that just gives you a sense, Gayle and Tony,
01:18 the outpouring of support here
01:21 and how much this has shaken the people of Israel.
01:24 - And Sky News Australia's Sherry Markson
01:27 delivered searing remarks when describing the horror
01:29 unfolding in the Middle East.
01:31 - There was no mercy shown.
01:38 As the elderly, the women, the children, the babies
01:46 were kidnapped, seized, and carted off by jeering men
01:51 away from the safety of their homes,
01:54 their loved ones, and their life as they knew it.
01:59 - Israel declared war on Hamas on October 7th
02:01 after the Palestinian militant group
02:03 launched terror attacks throughout the nation
02:05 with Hamas fighters abducting a reported 150 Israelis,
02:09 many of whom are civilians.
02:11 Israel has retaliated with airstrikes across the Gaza Strip.
02:15 As of October 12th, more than 1,000 people
02:17 have reportedly been killed on both sides.
02:20 I-24 correspondent Nicole Zidek's on-the-ground reporting
02:23 has gained global attention since the Hamas attack
02:26 with the young journalist breaking
02:27 some of the most horrific details
02:29 of the escalating conflict,
02:31 including unspeakable violence against children and babies.
02:35 And she has been taking social media followers
02:37 inside the destruction's aftermath.
02:40 - I'm here at Barzillai Medical Center in Ashkelon,
02:42 just the latest scene of one of the direct hits
02:45 of a rocket here targeting the Child Development Center.
02:49 Look at the glass.
02:50 Now, this is still a dangerous area for us to be in,
02:53 but over there, you can still see
02:55 some of the children's toys, children's play areas.
02:59 Line in the hospital is now, it's covered in glass,
03:02 the debris everywhere.
03:03 - Nicole defended her reporting amid skepticism,
03:06 sharing on Instagram why she and her colleagues
03:08 feel a duty to deliver their firsthand experience
03:11 despite the dangerous surroundings
03:13 with her latest post reading,
03:15 "When I say the community still smells like death,
03:17 "this is what I mean.
03:19 "Journalists don't want to stand
03:20 "mere feet away from devastation,
03:22 "but we do it to inform the public
03:23 "on what's really happening on the ground.
03:26 "This is the reality in Southern Israel.
03:28 "Don't look away because I had to see it with my own eyes."
