Merle Shepherd's Fatal Crash @ Twin Cities Speedway 2010

Merle Shepherd was killed during a semi-truck race at Marysville Raceway Park in California on 14 August 2010.

Though scheduled and promoted on the evening's bill, the truck competition was not a formal, league-sanctioned race but an event held in hopes of forming a new racing class at Marysville Raceway Park. During the race Shepherd's truck collided with another vehicle and overturned in the track infield. The truck was not equipped with a roll-cage and Shepherd died in the accident.

Merle Shepherd was from from Rio Linda, California. He was survived by his wife Linda, children Tabitha and Merle, stepchildren Diana, Peggy and Joe, seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
