"I have a very sweet memory of him": An exclusive interview with Pablo Picasso's grandson

We spoke with Bernard Ruiz-Picasso, the art collector and grandson of Pablo Picasso,  to discuss the iconic artist's life and legacy.

00:00 I was a young kid when he passed away.

00:06 I was 13 years old, but I've been lucky enough to spend quite a long time with him.

00:16 I keep a very, very sweet remember of him, with his friends, with his family, his children,

00:24 like very Spaniard or like very grandfatherly, sweet one.

00:32 We were playing together on the beach, swimming, and really enjoying those moments of summer

00:40 It's great because sculpture for Picasso, but for many artists from Renaissance even

01:02 before is a way to find solution in painting, another way of describing emotions.

01:12 And as Picasso, as a modern artist with all his friends in 20th century, was wishing to

01:18 get a little more in the inner self, something like a little bit deeper.

01:24 It's good to see the sculpture in such a beautiful space, to be able to see those sculpture and

01:34 turning around them and feeling them.

01:38 They seem to be very much alive.
