00:00 In the midst of the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas,
00:03 several countries are evacuating their citizens from Israel.
00:08 More than 200 have been evacuated,
00:10 followed by Spain and South Korea,
00:13 while more than 700 have requested evacuation from the Argentine government.
00:18 Our government is ready to evacuate the Filipinos,
00:21 but it's not going to be easy,
00:23 especially with the air strike and the clashes near the borders outside Gaza.
00:28 Witnesses are Rafi Thima.
00:31 This is the Rafah border crossing in Gaza,
00:35 the only one that can cross more than 2 million residents of Gaza to the Sinai Peninsula,
00:39 which is surrounded by Egypt.
00:41 In these images, the smoke is seen in the surroundings.
00:44 The same day, an air strike hit the Palestinian side of the Rafah border.
00:51 The exit point near Egypt has been under attack.
00:55 So at this point, it may not be safe for our nationals to leave through that exit point.
01:02 In the midst of the possible ground assault by Israeli forces,
01:05 more than 700 Filipinos in Gaza have requested repatriation.
01:09 They are mostly Filipino women married to Palestinians or their children.
01:13 The Filipinos who are in Gaza via Israel will not be able to leave because of the clashes at the Gaza-Israeli border.
01:20 They also need permission from Israel.
01:22 They need help from other countries and the United Nations to open the so-called humanitarian corridor.
01:29 In the midst of the Israel-commanded total blockade in Gaza,
01:33 there is no gas, no food, and no water that can enter.
01:37 The power supply is also cut off.
01:39 But according to UN Human Rights Chief Walter Turk,
01:41 the implementation of a total siege in the Gaza Strip
01:44 that will stop the entry of essential goods that need to be brought to life is prohibited under international law.
01:50 But he also forbids the hostage-taking that Hamas is doing.
01:54 And Turk called for the removal of all civilians who are waiting for no reason.
01:59 Israel is also a gate.
02:01 Hamas is using the residents of Gaza as a human shield.
02:04 And Israel's real target is the terrorist capabilities in Gaza.
02:08 When the Philippine embassy in Jordan will be dispatched,
02:11 they will be in contact with the authorities.
02:13 There is a plan on how to escape the Filipinos.
02:16 The Filipinos themselves are the priority and their Palestinian spouses may not be with them.
02:21 But Indonesia has asked for help from the Philippines.
02:25 The Indonesian embassy has approached us, Your Honor,
02:30 if we can help them because they have no personnel also,
02:36 and a diplomatic personnel in Gaza.
02:39 We don't have physical presence there, but we are in contact with our community.
02:45 Definitely the Philippines is ready to support, but of course, our priority is our fellow Filipinos.
02:52 For GMA Integrated News, I'm Rafi Timang, your witness.
