02:06 Before Guillermo del Toro's giant robots vs. giant aliens sci-fi flick has even hit theatres,
02:18 a sequel has already been given the green light.
02:21 According to Entertainment Weekly,
02:24 entertainment CEO Thomas Sattu approached del Toro after the film's first screening
02:30 and asked him to plan a sequel.
02:33 The sequel would explore the alien forces behind the Kaiju,
02:37 who invade Earth through the Antiverse.
02:40 Del Toro says the sequel's screenplay would take at least two years to develop,
02:44 so don't expect to feel Pacific Rim fatigue.
02:47 Pacific Rim is due to hit theatres July 12th.
