My name is Chelsea Allison and I have just recently won Miss Scotland 2023.
00:05
And why do you think the Miss Scotland competition is so important?
00:09
I think it's an amazing platform for girls to give charities the recognition that they deserve.
00:18
The work that the Miss Scotland organisation do with the girls in the competition throughout and afterwards is amazing.
00:28
It gives girls a really big boost of confidence and shows that it's not all about beauty and that it is a lot of charity work.
00:36
And it's not just about what's on the outside, it's about what's within as well.
00:40
I was really proud to have taken my crown home to the Highlands.
00:44
I think it's been a long, long time since somebody has taken the Miss Scotland title home to the Highlands.
00:51
So yeah, I was really proud to be able to do that.
00:54
So I have had two family members who have sadly passed away.
00:59
But before they passed away, they were both taken into the Highland Hospice.
01:02
And the care they received in there was amazing.
01:06
The carers were amazing, just everybody in the hospice, everything that they do is incredible.
01:13
And I think they really deserve a lot more recognition than what they already have.
01:17
So I couldn't have thought of a better charity to have picked from a Scotland journey.
01:24
How did you feel when your name was first announced that you were Miss Scotland 2023?
01:29
I think I didn't expect it at first start.
01:33
And the two runners up, I really thought they were going to be the winners to be quite honest with you.
01:39
So when they announced it, my legs went like jelly and I had to hold on to the two girls next to me.
01:45
I just I really didn't expect it at all.
01:49
What made you want to put yourself forward for Miss Scotland?
01:52
I think in 2018 when I first competed, I wasn't fully ready.
01:57
I was obviously still very young.
02:00
I think I have matured a lot more since then.
02:03
I'm a lot more involved with my charity.
02:05
I've been working with them since 2018.
02:07
And I think this was the perfect platform for me to raise as much awareness for the Highland Hospice as I can.
02:14
What's your plans now? What's the plan for the future after becoming Miss Scotland?
02:19
So obviously I go to India for Miss World in November, which will be an amazing experience.
02:25
There's 126 other girls from all over the world that I'll get to meet and go through that journey with for five weeks.
02:33
But in the meantime, I plan to continue working with the Highland Hospice as close as possible and raise as much money for them as possible.
