00:07 So, bandyoke is basically karaoke, but you're performing on stage with a band behind you.
00:12 The band we have is fantastic as well, like, they're brilliant.
00:18 But, it's just an opportunity for people that don't know each other, people that are in
00:22 groups or people that are just out on a night out to come and do something you normally
00:26 have to book for.
00:28 Karaoke is a novel entertainment concept here for Birmingham's nightlife scene.
00:32 On the stage of the Boxer Brindley Place, performers join an experienced live band to
00:37 deliver various songs from an extensive playlist.
00:41 This unique event seems to be a crowd favourite, charming the city's Thursday night revelers.
00:46 The venue bursts with energy and engagement as an array of talented performers ascends
00:51 the stage to showcase their exceptional vocal prowess to a captivated and sizeable audience.
00:59 It's funny to watch, quite nerve-wracking to actually go up there obviously, but once
01:05 the drinks start flowing I'm sure everyone just goes up and performs.
01:10 Again before working here I'd never heard of it before.
01:13 It was brand new to me, I didn't know what it was, I was like, that's interesting.
01:19 Different, very different, but it's consistent, every single Thursday we get the same crowd
01:25 in or, well, not necessarily, we do get regulars, but it's the same similar crowd of a lot of
01:31 people coming for bandyoke.
01:33 People that have never done it before are there, people that continuously want to do
01:36 it, people that are just randomly on a night out and have no idea what's going on, or people
01:42 that just go, what's bandyoke, let's go and have a look.
01:44 So every single Thursday we're busy for it.
01:47 Amidst the increasing cost of living crisis, which has posed significant challenges to
01:52 the hospitality sector, nightlife venues have been devising innovative strategies to appeal
01:57 to patrons.
01:59 This includes adding unique spins to classic deals, such as bottomless brunches.
02:04 Evidently, these creative initiatives have yielded positive outcomes, with Birmingham
02:09 witnessing a surge of new venues.
02:11 Among these, the Box in Birmingham has emerged as a thriving venture, accentuating the city's
02:17 vibrant nightlife scene.
02:19 It's just like a huge response.
02:23 I think a lot of us were surprised.
02:25 We thought maybe putting a Box in Birmingham Place, a sports bar in Birmingham Place wasn't
02:29 going to be the perfect place, like a sports bar, like the perfect situation.
02:35 But we've made adjustments, especially me saying again, two for one, massive adjustments
02:42 to kind of just bring in more people and bring in that kind of audience and that fun.
02:48 Even though the industry grapples with numerous challenges, recent trends underscore the significance
02:54 of crafting engaging interactive entertainment experiences as the essential tool for enticing
03:00 individuals into the dynamic nightlife scene.
