The TTPS is encouraging people to be vigilant for corrupt practices at all public institutions.

The call comes as officers from the fraud squad arrested and charged three people, including two licensing employees, just this week.

00:00 Three people, including an inspector and a licensing clerk from the Karani Licensing
00:06 Division have been charged in relation to corruption and fraud offences.
00:11 According to the police, motor vehicle inspector 49-year-old Errol Supersad of Kanupia and
00:18 temporary clerk 27-year-old Sudesh Radhakisun also of Kanupia were charged with misbehaviour
00:25 in public office, while 51-year-old Adrian Mohamed, a computer technician from Laromaine,
00:32 was charged with two counts of uttering forged documents.
00:36 According to the TTPS, a vehicle owner reported in June 2022 that being the registered owner
00:43 of a black Nissan Navara, he visited the licensing office on Ryerson Road, Port of Spain to verify
00:49 some information in relation to the vehicle.
00:53 However, he was allegedly told that the vehicle was transferred to another person.
00:59 The victim denied selling or transferring the vehicle or authorising anyone to do so
01:03 on his behalf and a report was made to the Transport Commissioner who forwarded the report
01:09 to the fraud squad.
01:11 Investigations revealed that a senior licensing officer and a temporary clerk one had allegedly,
01:18 fraudulently and corruptly prepared, signed and submitted transfer forms and other supporting
01:24 documents in relation to the transfer of the vehicle.
01:28 An exercise resulted in three suspects being arrested on Monday, October 2, 2023.
01:35 They were charged on Wednesday, following advice from Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions
01:41 Dugdeen Jaglao.
01:43 Supersat and Radhakisun were each granted bail in the sum of $100,000 with surety by
01:49 a Justice of the Peace, while Mohammed was granted bail in the sum of $120,000.
01:56 The men are to appear in the Port of Spain Magistrates' Court on October 24.
02:02 In a statement, the TTPS urged members of the public to continue their vigilance for
02:07 corrupt practices at all public institutions and to make a report to the police so perpetrators
02:14 can be brought to justice.
02:16 The Transport Commissioner says he has taken a zero-tolerance approach to corrupt practices
02:22 within the licensing division and promises that this investigation is one of many to
02:28 come.
