00:00 You have a choice.
00:02 Scream or don't.
00:04 Welcome to WatchMojo!
00:06 And today we're counting down our picks for the top 10 Saw Traps rigged for failure.
00:11 Some call this karma.
00:14 I call it justice.
00:15 For this list, we'll be looking at the traps that are meant only to eliminate the victim
00:19 or are so difficult that nobody can realistically beat them.
00:23 We're including traps that characters did survive so long as they were still set up to fail.
00:29 And speaking of traps, let us spring the spoiler warning on you.
00:33 Which saw trap did you think is the most unfair?
00:36 Let us know in the comments.
00:39 Number 10.
00:41 Death Mask.
00:43 Saw 2.
00:47 Police informant Michael Marks' head is trapped in a mask with spikes protruding from inside
00:53 both ends.
00:54 With just 60 seconds on the timer, Michael not only has to extract the key from directly
00:59 behind his eye, but also free himself.
01:02 How much blood will you shed to stay alive, Michael?
01:05 Live or die.
01:06 Make your choice.
01:08 Asking someone to use a small scalpel to tear into a sensitive part of their body was never
01:13 going to work out.
01:14 As expected, Michael can't bring himself up to endure such pain and fails.
01:19 Even if he'd gone through with it, a singular minute is inconceivable for a person to brave
01:24 through blood loss and unlock the heavy mask.
01:31 Number 9.
01:32 Silence Circle.
01:34 Saw 3D.
01:50 Staying calm during moments of distress is incredibly difficult.
01:53 But Jigsaw expects Nina to stay quiet while a literal hook is pulled from inside her stomach.
02:06 In this trap, Bobby Dagan has to fish out the key to free Nina from her bonds, but has
02:11 only one minute.
02:12 What happens if he fails?
02:14 Nina gets impaled by pointy rods straight into her throats.
02:18 She has no room for movement and Bobby's flimsy effort leads to a lot of pain she can't
02:23 help but scream from.
02:29 No normal person can withstand such agony and remain silent.
02:33 Of course, the trap doesn't take this into account and Nina has to endure a very nasty
02:38 demise.
02:39 Remind us never to go fishing with Jigsaw.
02:44 Number 8.
02:45 Time Crusher.
02:46 Saw 6.
02:57 Saw 6 protagonist William finds himself in a contraption with Hank, a man who works in
03:02 his office.
03:03 The more a person breathes, the tighter metal clamps jam into a victim's sides.
03:08 The one who holds their breath longest gets to live.
03:24 Except William's opponent is much older and has a history of blood pressure and heart
03:28 issues.
03:29 Basically, Hank is set up for failure even before the game begins.
03:33 Despite his best effort, he can't compete with the younger, healthier William who watches
03:37 Hank slowly be crushed.
03:39 Considering the rest of the trials are designed for William to complete, Jigsaw never planned
03:45 on Hank's survival.
03:46 Honestly, if this trap doesn't motivate you to quit smoking, then nothing will.
03:51 Number 7.
03:53 Classroom Trap.
03:54 Saw 3.
03:59 Amanda Young always intended for Troy to be executed and that's exactly what happens
04:04 in this trap.
04:09 The victim has to pull on hooks pierced into his body before the timer runs out and blows
04:14 him into smithereens.
04:15 Miraculously, Troy is able to pull on each chain and remains lucid enough to nearly finish
04:21 the task.
04:22 But, since the last one is hooked into his jaw, Troy's doom is sealed.
04:26 And speaking of sealed, the door was completely locked so Troy wasn't going to escape anyway.
04:33 Since his suffering doesn't have any bearing on the outcome, it would have been less painful
04:40 for Troy to wait for his death from the beginning.
04:43 Number 6.
04:44 Flammable Jelly.
04:45 Saw.
04:46 If there's ever been a trap where the chances of winning are astronomically low, then this
05:01 is it.
05:02 Kirk is injected with poison, has a flammable substance smeared on his body, and has to
05:07 use a candle to find the code on the walls.
05:10 The codes in question are hundreds of numbers with no logical way to figure out the combination.
05:15 Oh, and he has to wade through shards of glass while barefoot.
05:21 It's an entirely unfair game the victim is thrust into, with absolutely no hint or
05:35 clue to make things easier for him.
05:38 All this because Mark lied about being sick to his company.
05:41 Does skipping work really warrant being burned alive?
05:45 Jigsaw certainly thinks so.
05:54 Number 5.
05:56 The Rack.
05:57 Saw 3.
05:58 When Jigsaw admits a trap is his personal favorite, you know the victim is doomed.
06:09 Timothy is strapped into a contraption that twists his limbs and neck.
06:13 He certainly had Jeff's mercy, who has to find a key to release him.
06:17 However, since Timothy caused an accident that claimed the life of Jeff's son, the
06:21 latter isn't in a particularly merciful mood.
06:35 The rack acts a lot faster than it should as Timothy's limbs are shattered soon into
06:40 the game.
06:41 Even if Jeff were quicker, Timothy was never going to leave unscathed.
06:45 The fact that he can do nothing about it makes it all the more tragic.
06:49 By the time Jeff comes to his senses, Timothy's death is inevitable.
06:57 Number 4.
06:59 Pendulum Trap.
07:00 Saw 5.
07:05 Although it's an impressively built trap, this one was meant to kill all along.
07:10 Seth Baxter, the man who murdered Mark Hoffman's sister, is bound to a table while a large
07:15 blade swings towards him.
07:31 Seth follows the rules and sacrifices his hands to stop the pendulum.
07:35 Only for it to keep moving.
07:37 The man dies confused after doing what he was supposed to do.
07:40 So we learn that Hoffman created the trap for revenge while pinning the blame on Jigsaw.
07:58 It's a memorable trap both for its brutality and the catharsis Hoffman gains.
08:03 It also goes to show that Jigsaw's wonky philosophy can easily be twisted for straight
08:07 up murder.
08:22 Number 3.
08:23 Angel Trap.
08:24 Saw 3.
08:30 The angel trap is meant to test the victim's will to survive.
08:33 Pity Amanda had to be the Jigsaw apprentice on duty that day.
08:37 Allison Carey is strapped to metal brackets that will tear her apart unless she frees
08:41 herself.
08:51 Carey has the near impossible task of plunging her hand into a jar of acid to retrieve the
08:56 key.
09:05 She proves her fighting spirit by completing the game.
09:08 But Amanda rigs the trap to be inescapable.
09:11 With no way out, Carey accepts her fate and is brutally executed.
09:16 Continuing Amanda's habit of making traps that are impossible to win.
09:20 Number 2.
09:21 Water Cue.
09:22 Saw 5.
09:30 Hoffman recognizes Agent Strahm as a threat who can expose him as Jigsaw's apprentice.
09:35 He uses the water cube to try and eliminate him for good.
09:50 After Strahm ignores Jigsaw's warning to proceed further, Hoffman ambushes his rival
09:54 to set him up for the trap.
09:57 Strahm wakes up with his head in a cube without any clues or tools around.
10:12 Things get worse when the cube starts to fill with water.
10:14 Leaving Strahm helpless was a deliberate choice, as Hoffman planned on drowning him to have
10:19 no witnesses.
10:20 The crafty agent escapes anyway, improvising with the pen for a makeshift tracheotomy.
10:25 His survival surprises Hoffman as well, who never expected Strahm to make it out alive.
10:55 Number 1.
10:59 Reverse Bear Trap.
11:00 Varius.
11:01 When it comes to the reverse bear trap, someone
11:11 is always meant to die.
11:13 In Amanda's game, she has to kill another man to break free.
11:28 Meanwhile Hoffman and Jill's games are essentially executions.
11:39 In the former, Jill binds Hoffman with the timer activated without leaving a key.
11:43 However, Hoffman frees himself by using the bars on a door to stop the trap halfway through.
11:49 He returns the favor in the next film, with Jill now on the receiving end.
11:54 While most of the reverse bear trap victims have escaped, this time it really is game
11:58 over as Hoffman hangs back to witness Jill's grisly end.
