00:07 My name is Angus MacLachlan and I am the writer/director of A Little Prayer,

00:11 which will premiere at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival.

00:14 A Little Prayer is about a man in Winston-Salem, North Carolina,

00:17 who tries to protect his daughter-in-law when he finds out his son is having an affair.

00:21 I started this project when my daughter was 16.

00:25 She's now 21.

00:27 And I realized in retrospect that I was working on a story about parenting adult children.

00:32 How you still want to protect them and tell them what to do and you can't.

00:36 A Little Prayer is about family and love and secrets and choices and letting go.

00:46 I first came to Sundance in 1989 as a festival volunteer.

00:51 And I was last there with a film that I wrote called Junebug.

00:55 So I'm thrilled to be returning with another story about the confusing, funny, heartbreaking,

01:02 and transcendent aspects of being a member of a family.
