00:00 Angry protesters in Armenia's capital Friday blocking streets and calling for Prime Minister
00:07 Nikol Pashinyan to resign.
00:09 It's the fourth day of demonstrations against the handling of the crisis in Nagorno-Karabakh.
00:15 On Wednesday, Armenian separatists there agreed to surrender 24 hours after Azerbaijani troops
00:20 entered the territory.
00:23 Protesters outside the government building tell France 24 that Pashinyan is abandoning
00:27 Karabakh.
00:28 "We won't give away Nagorno-Karabakh.
00:33 They're fighting for it, he won't be able to do it and this idiot government needs to
00:37 understand they're also Armenian."
00:39 "Everyone here hopes to save Nagorno-Karabakh.
00:44 If we give it away, it means we will give away the whole of Armenia.
00:48 If they take away Nagorno-Karabakh tomorrow, Armenia will be next.
00:52 They will come here and take over."
00:54 Pashinyan has been in this position before.
00:57 Back in 2020, he was weakened by a military defeat in Nagorno-Karabakh.
01:02 Protesters demanded his resignation and he announced early parliamentary elections.
01:07 His party eventually won, enabling him to remain in power.
01:11 Now opposition parties once again want to unseat Pashinyan.
01:15 But a change in leadership is very unlikely to swing the power balance in Karabakh, which
01:19 is largely in Azerbaijan's favor.
01:22 Meanwhile, the future is highly uncertain for the region and the tens of thousands of
01:27 ethnic Armenians living there.
01:30 "The situation in Nagorno-Karabakh continues to be extremely tense.
01:37 The humanitarian crisis continues.
01:42 It's an agreed position with our partners from Nagorno-Karabakh that our plan A is not
01:48 the evacuation of the Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh."
01:53 Talks between Azerbaijan and Karabakh's separatist leaders are ongoing.
01:57 But outside the government building in Yerevan, protesters say Pashinyan has already allowed
02:02 too many concessions.
