00:00 The Motorcycle Academy of the Metro Manila Development Authority is about to open.
00:04 For more information on what can be seen inside, let's find out in the first news of Katrina Son.
00:09 Sales Acedra has been a motorcycle rider for 5 months.
00:16 In one day, he traveled for 10 to 12 hours.
00:20 He admitted that many riders lack the content in the traffic law.
00:25 The most prohibited areas are the bus lanes.
00:30 It's always crowded.
00:32 They don't know that they're passing through an accident area.
00:37 Sales mentioned one of the reasons why MMDA established the Motorcycle Academy
00:42 that will start on September 27.
00:44 Here, they will teach free riding courtesy, motorcycle orientation,
00:49 road traffic rules and regulations, motorcycle safety laws, and first aid.
00:54 If there are accidents, they will be the first responders.
00:57 They should know at least the basic first aid.
00:59 This is the MMDA Motorcycle Academy course track.
01:03 There are stoplights and they also have a road sign.
01:07 The road conditions are different here so that the motorcycle course riders can learn.
01:14 The track course is a reality for the riders to learn what to do if the road is muddy, wet, and slippery.
01:22 The road signs will also be taught.
01:24 The academy will have a clinic, shower rooms, and restrooms for the riders to visit.
01:30 According to MMDA, from January to August this year,
01:34 in EDSA alone, almost 8 accidents were reported per day.
01:39 Aside from the accidents in C5 and Commonwealth Avenue.
01:43 Philippines is ranked number 11 out of 175 countries with a reported number of road traffic deaths at 10,012,
01:58 of which 4.7 involving drivers or passengers of two or three wheelers.
02:04 The academy is open and free for interested motorcycle riders.
02:08 Just enroll and register on the MMDA website.
02:11 We hope that with this Motorcycle Riding Academy,
02:15 we can help to produce better riders, well-disciplined and educated when it comes to basic traffic laws and also road safety.
