Iba pang proyekto sa ilalim ng EDCA, nakaplano na
Transcript
00:00 The assistance of the Armed Forces of the Philippines and their officials in America
00:06 including the Edca Sites in the Philippines has been productive.
00:09 And the number of Edca Sites is being studied by the US.
00:14 This is what Patrick DeJesus has to say.
00:16 This Wednesday, the United States and the Philippines' military and diplomatic officials
00:26 have set up additional Edca Sites in Cagayan at the headquarters of AFP Chief of Staff General Romeo Browner Jr.,
00:33 US Indo-Pakom Commander Admiral John Aquilino,
00:36 and US Ambassador to the Philippines Mary Kay Carlson.
00:39 The Lalo Airport and the Naval Base Camilo Osías in Santa Ana are also included.
00:46 Some of the projects under the Edca are being built such as the Bagumpier,
00:51 rehabilitation of the airstrip, and fuel storage facility.
00:55 The Baza Airbase in Pampanga, one of the former Edca Sites, was also officially inspected.
01:02 Some facilities here are already finished such as the runway and Command and Control Fusion Center,
01:07 while some are still planned.
01:09 The military officials of the Philippines and the US
01:13 are also asking the US to support the Edca Projects.
01:17 I was here a year ago.
01:19 The advance of the runway and all of the sites is moving at great speed,
01:25 and it's only because of the great partnership.
01:27 We're also very happy at the rate that the development of these projects,
01:32 the Edca Projects, have been going.
01:34 And we're very optimistic that for next year,
01:40 we will have more of these projects operational
01:45 so that we can work on our joint exercises right away,
01:52 and also our joint operations.
01:54 This Thursday, the AFP Headquarters in Camp Aguinaldo held the Mutual Defense Board
02:00 Security Engagement Board Meeting between the Philippines and the US
02:05 that was productive.
02:06 As the Edca Sites and other projects are being discussed,
02:11 the Edca Sites are also being considered to be added.
02:14 We've increased the number of projects in the already approved sites.
02:18 We've gone from 32.
02:20 We've added 63 others.
02:22 And the United States has identified investment of almost $110 million
02:29 to those sites to build capability and capacity for the AFP to use every day
02:36 and for the United States to fall in on when invited.
02:39 Let me emphasize, however, that while the United States is spending
02:45 for these Edca Sites through the implementation of several projects,
02:52 I would like to say that the Philippine government is also spending
02:56 for these Edca Sites, primarily because these are our own camps.
03:01 And we have to maintain our camps.
03:04 We have to make sure that our camps are livable
03:08 and of course, sustainable.
03:11 Meanwhile, AFP Western Command is in charge of the re-increase
03:16 of Chinese fishing vessels in the West Philippine Sea.
03:19 In the air patrol conducted last week,
03:22 the largest number of Chinese fishing vessels were spotted
03:26 in Irikua Reef, which is more than 30.
03:29 While there are also in Sabina Shoal and Baragadan Bank
03:32 that are considered to be part of our Exclusive Economic Zone.
03:36 The West Command has assured the continued surveillance of the area
03:39 to maintain order and to preserve the rights of the country
03:43 to our territory.
03:45 Patrick de Azuz for the nation.
