00:00 Hello, my name is Sian Jones and these are the latest headlines from our newsrooms across
00:05 the North West. A woman is calling for lessons to be learned after Wigan's Hospital Trust
00:10 apologised for failings in her care, which led to a 24 hour delay in her being treated
00:15 for sepsis. Ella Watts from Skellamersdale attended Wigan A&E in December 2018 with flu-like
00:22 symptoms, chest pain, vomiting and diarrhoea. She was triaged as a category 3 patient and
00:28 advised it would be over 4 hours before she would be seen by a medic. Under the impression
00:34 there was no real need for her to be at hospital, Ella, who was 17 at the time, returned home,
00:39 but the next day her condition deteriorated. Work has begun to transform the former Morrison
00:47 store near Deepdale Retail Park into a Tesco and anticipation is building. The Morrison's
00:53 branch in Blackpool Row near Deepdale Retail Park closed its doors on Sunday, September
00:58 10th. The closure was three weeks earlier than originally planned after the company
01:02 agreed a deal to sell the store to its supermarket rival.
01:06 In other news, a long-established smokehouse business which started out in Lancaster is
01:11 due to launch its new shop in Glassen Dock. Having originated at St George's Quay and
01:16 now based in Glassen, the Port of Lancaster Smokehouse has been in business for 49 years.
01:22 Now the third generation of the family firm is set to open its new retail outlet in the
01:27 village tomorrow on September 15th.
01:31 A Blackpool hotel has thanked guests for their tremendous support after it was forced to
01:35 temporarily close following the death of a boy who suffered an electric shock on site.
01:41 A 10-year-old boy was found unresponsive in the reception area of Tiffany's Hotel on the
01:45 promenade at around 10.40pm on Sunday, September 3rd. Police say the boy's injuries were consistent
01:52 with coming into contact with high voltage electricity. The boy, later named as Jack
01:58 Piper Sheets from Wales, was taken to Alderhey Children's Hospital for further treatment.
02:05 And finally, the family behind Real Cinema have spoken about how they can't wait for
02:09 the Burnley community to embrace the cinema's new town centre home. Founder and owner Casey
02:14 Surrey along with son Sunil welcomed a host of civic dignitaries to a special grand opening
02:20 at the Pioneer Place site.
02:23 Reading out a message from his dad who has lost his voice, Sunil said, "It is essential
02:27 to emphasise that our journey was a collective effort. The dedication of the Real team and
02:32 many here tonight has been paramount. You have been my unwavering pillars of support
02:37 in business and in my personal trials."
02:41 The weather now. Rain is slowly moving across the region but is turning lighter and patchier
02:46 at times with wind easing and feeling warm in the sunshine with highs of 19 degrees.
