Dholes are social animals that live in packs of up to 40 individuals. The packs are led by a dominant male and female. Dholes are cooperative hunters and they work together to bring down prey that is much larger than themselves. They have been known to hunt deer, antelope, wild boar, and even tigers.
Dholes are an endangered species. Their numbers have declined due to habitat loss, hunting, and conflict with humans. They are also susceptible to diseases such as rabies.
