Wigan Wilko set to close

Wigan reporter Sian Jones outside the Wilko store, Standishgate, Wigan town centre, which is due to close as Wilko, previously known as Wilkinsons, has gone into administration after a rescue bid failed.

00:00 So we're outside Wilko's in Wigan Town Centre. There had been hopes that the shop would be

00:04 saved, however a deal to buy the brand has fell through and this looks to be one of the

00:09 ones set to close which is another blow to the High Street and the Town Centre and all

00:13 the regeneration work that's been going on. So we're down here today to speak to some

00:17 shoppers but none of them wanted to be on video. A lot of them are shocked and disappointed

00:23 and wonder what's going to be next because this is where they buy all their home goods

00:27 and now they think it's going to be another empty shop that's going to remain empty in

00:31 the Town Centre for a number of years.
