00:00 Welcome to BQ Prime.
00:01 We are here at the NPCI booth, where NPCI has, of course,
00:05 brought out conversational payments
00:07 as part of the new features under UPI
00:09 that have been launched.
00:10 I have with me Brijesh, Sumit, as well as
00:13 Ami, who are part of this team for the conversation payments.
00:17 Brijesh, there is a demo inside, which we've seen, of course,
00:22 which we will show to our viewers shortly.
00:24 But if you can just tell me what the idea behind bringing up
00:27 conversational payments is.
00:28 Right.
00:29 So today, if you see India, basically,
00:32 you have payments via different ways, mostly mobile.
00:35 But you have to keep typing.
00:37 But if I say my grandmom, right, and doing the payment,
00:41 that's not there yet.
00:42 The simplicity is not there.
00:43 And that's what we wanted to bring,
00:45 the conversational payment, saying, hey, my grandmom can
00:49 say, hey, book my gas cylinder.
00:51 And then that cylinder is booked, and the payment is done.
00:54 That's exactly what we wanted to achieve in your language,
00:57 not only English.
00:58 OK, so that's an interesting regional languages part.
01:02 But right now, it's only English and Hindi.
01:03 And then the rest of the languages
01:05 are coming in shortly.
01:06 Sumit, let me ask you this.
01:08 In your view, firstly, this is available on IoT products
01:12 at this point in time, right?
01:15 What kind of IoT products?
01:17 Do I need a specification?
01:18 Or any IoT product out there?
01:20 My Alexa at home could probably do these transactions.
01:24 So I think that the possibilities are seamless.
01:26 It's basically like any IoT device, which
01:28 can connect to the internet.
01:29 You should be able to make the payment,
01:30 be it Alexa devices, be it your TV, be it your refrigerator,
01:35 your connected cars, the infotainment system you
01:37 have in the car, or maybe like your smartwatch.
01:39 You are going somewhere.
01:40 You want to make a payment to your coconut water.
01:42 You should be able to do it from your smartwatch.
01:45 So with the Hello UPI and the Alexa combining together,
01:48 there's a lot of possibility we can make the payment so
01:51 seamless.
01:52 Anywhere, anytime, you should be able to make the direct debit
01:54 from your bank.
01:56 And Ami, I want to ask you, so the details, however,
02:00 did come up on the screen for the device.
02:03 I want to talk to you.
02:04 Is this secure at this point in time?
02:06 I mean, it's basically at home, right?
02:07 But anybody at my house can practically
02:09 see my account detail.
02:11 So we have multiple layers of security.
02:13 The transaction happens only for Amazon-linked accounts.
02:17 That's the first layer.
02:18 The second layer is we authenticate this account
02:20 with OTP during the one-time registration.
02:23 And the third layer is you need to enter your UPI pin
02:25 to do the transaction finally.
02:27 So without the UPI pin, nobody can debit a single rupee
02:30 from your account.
02:31 And it only recognizes my voice as linked to my account?
02:36 It recognizes the voices in your house, your family members.
02:40 And you can do the transaction.
02:41 But the authentication is still through the pin.
02:43 So it's completely secured by the UPI itself.
02:46 I'll be doing this demoing the Hello UPI technology
02:52 on an IoT device, which is our Amazon Alexa device.
02:56 And let's see the demo first and talk later about it.
02:59 Alexa, send one rupee to Adarsh.
03:02 It is fetching the contact Adarsh's phone
03:09 number from my phone book.
03:11 And from the phone number, it will figure out
03:13 the VPN background.
03:15 And the amount will also be pre-populated.
03:18 You are sending rupees 1.00 to Adarsh Rajanand,
03:22 whose mobile number ends in 6175.
03:25 Enter your UPI pin through the Dash interface
03:27 to complete the transaction.
03:30 The name was As per the bank records.
03:32 And now I'll enter the pin.
03:33 Because it is a live account, I'm
03:34 going to turn the screen away to enter the pin.
03:37 Thank you.
03:38 It's a real bank account.
03:42 It's a live transaction that's happening.
03:45 Your payment is done.
03:48 So you can see the time.
03:49 It's 1.27 PM today.
03:51 And it's a live transaction number, ID, and all of that.
03:56 So I just wanted to add, what is the future?
04:00 Today, you're able to do from this device.
04:02 What if I say that you can do from your fan, from your bulb,
04:06 your TV, your fridge, everything, right?
04:09 You can do the payment so easily.
04:11 You're saying, let's say a newspaper person comes.
04:14 And you're watching TV.
04:14 And you say, tell your TV thing, hey, pay my news [NON-ENGLISH]
04:20 100 rupees.
04:21 And your payment is done there.
04:23 That's what the future is.
04:24 Not necessarily you keep that mobile all the time with you.
04:27 Now payment will happen from everywhere.
04:30 That is this technology doing Hello UPI.
