Russian Air Attack Hits Ukrainian Grain Port Ahead Of Putin-Erdogan Talks

Russian forces launched an overnight air attack on Ukraine's crucial grain-exporting port in Izmail, prompting Ukrainian officials to urge residents to seek shelter. According to Reuters, This incident occurred just hours before Russian President Vladimir Putin and Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan were scheduled to meet in Sochi.

The meeting aimed to revive a grain export deal between Ukraine and Turkey, which had previously helped alleviate a global food crisis. Russia had exited this deal in July, citing obstacles to its own food and fertilizer exports.

In recent times, Russia has frequently targeted the Danube River ports, disrupting Ukraine's grain exports. This attack followed a similar strike on the Reni port, resulting in infrastructure damage and injuries. Tensions in the region remain high.
