00:00 Kenneth Loh Yu Lung is a fighter. Despite being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, an
00:08 unpredictable disease of the central nervous system, the former national squash champion
00:13 and coach has vowed to battle on.
00:17 Loh, 47, has been living with stroke-induced impairment, diminished motor skills, cognitive
00:23 disability and short-term memory dysfunction. Loh now works as a cleaner, a job he had done
00:31 over the past two years at a monthly salary of R1,500.
00:37 After FMT reported about his condition last month, the public have made donations amounting
00:42 to about R170,000 to help him overcome his plight. Loh said the funds will be used for
00:50 his welfare.
00:52 Loh thanked FMT, National Athletes' Welfare Foundation, squash legend S. Muniam and Best
00:58 Archery Center owner Jeffrey Koch, who employed him at the height of his despair, for coming
01:04 to his aid.
01:06 Loh was a former six-time national number one squash player in the 1980s and 1990s and
01:13 was rated number four in Asia and number 38 in the world.
01:18 He was also the national coach of the Squash Racquet Association of Malaysia.
01:24 Loh then went on to coach the Federal Territories, Thailand, Pahang and Perak teams before coaching
01:31 became difficult for him due to his failing health.
