Malaysians are expected to travel more with the Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) targetting up to RM350mil in sales during the 53rd edition of MATTA Fair.

00:08 targeting up to RM350 million in sales during the latest edition of Mata Fair.
00:15 Mata President Nigel Wong said this was a modest increase of an additional RM50 million
00:21 in sales that was made during the previous fair in March.
00:24 We have about 1,000, almost 1,300 booths in total.
00:29 Our target sales will be RM350 million and our targeted visitors will be about 200,000.
00:38 From the latest target, Wong noted that domestic travel was expected to contribute some
00:43 RM70 million, which is double the previous RM35 million.
00:48 Well, in a way, we've got a lot of new products.
00:50 You know, as you can see from the halls themselves, a lot of new product owners have come to the
00:54 forefront, a lot of new attractions, very creative products on sale at the Mata Fair.

01:03 You know, people are beginning to explore their own backyard a bit more.
01:07 Maybe during the pandemic, you know, domestic tourism was widely promoted and now people
01:12 suddenly find that Malaysia has a lot to offer and they don't have to blow a budget in order
01:17 to have a great holiday.
01:18 Wong told reporters this after the launch of the fair on Friday.
01:22 Also present at the launch were Tourism, Arts and Culture Ministry Secretary-General,
01:27 Datuk Roslan Abdul Rahman, who represented Minister Datuk Sri Tiong Kin Singh.
01:33 Motec also has allocated RM25 million through the tourism sector support grant to fuel and
01:42 reinvigorate the tourism sector.
01:45 To date, Motec has already received 300 applications from industry players.
